Former Duke Blue Devils faced off against one another Tuesday night, as the New Orleans Pelicans opened their preseason against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This meant that two of Duke's notable alumni would be in action, former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson and sharpshooting point guard Jared McCain.
Tuning up for the regular season, both Williamson and McCain played 16 minutes, starting for their respective squads.
Beginning with Williamson, he racked up 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting to go along with four rebounds and one assist.
McCain, on the other hand, shot a much higher volume, scoring 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting from 3-point range and 4-for-10 shooting overall. He also added one rebound, one steal and five assists.
With the Pelicans
outscoring the Thunder 26-17 in the fourth quarter, New Orleans pulled off the comeback, securing a 116-110 victory and giving Williamson temporary bragging rights over McCain.
