One game into his second NBA season, Cooper Flagg has already set another record.
The Dallas Mavericks forward scored 32 points in the season-opening loss to the Houston Rockets, the most points scored by a teenager in NBA history.
Flagg, the 2025-26 NBA Rookie of the Year, finished 10-of-17 from the field, including 1-of-4 from beyond the arc and grabbed five rebounds, three steals and two assists. He also took advantage of trips to the free-throw line, draining 11-of-13 attempts.
After winning the Wooden Award in his only season at Duke, Flagg, the top overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, got off to a slow start in his rookie season, with many questioning why then-Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd played the 6-foot-9 forward at point guard early
in the season.
Flagg finished last season averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. The Mavericks travel to Indianapolis to take on the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
