It was another wacky weekend of ACC football as No. 1 Miami was taken to the last minute by North Carolina, SMU was stunned by Syracuse, and Duke put it on Boston College, allowing just a safety on a returned blocked point-after attempt in the 47-2 win.
We officially turned the calendar over to November, and the ACC title race seems to be coming down to the Hurricanes and the surprising Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Blue Devils face both later this month.
Here is how ESPN’s Football Power Index has the final four games of Duke’s schedule playing out.
Week 10: at NC State (71.5 percent)
The Wolfpack played with energy and enthusiasm following the firing of Dave Doeren, beating Cal 31-10.
Week 11: at Miami (9.5 percent)
The Hurricanes proved they could win a close game with a 38-35 victory over North Carolina on
Saturday. Now the top-ranked Hurricanes face their biggest test yet: at No. 4 Notre Dame.
Week 12: vs. Clemson (65.8 percent)
Dabo Swinney’s team put the final nail in Mike Norvell’s coffin in Tallahassee, something that had been coming for a long time. But how much time does Swinney have at Clemson?
Week 13: at Wake Forest (24.8 percent)
Not sure anyone outside of Winston-Salem is noticing, but the Demon Deacons are playing incredible football, standing 7-1 with their only loss to No. 1 Miami and are making mush out of their opponents. A rematch against the Hurricanes in the ACC title game would be a great watch.
