Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum dismantled the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night, scoring 40 points, including the game-winning bucket in overtime. With the buzzer-beater, Tatum now sits atop a list that includes some of the most clutch scorers in NBA history.
The former Blue Devil is now shooting 38.7% from the field on shots to tie or take the lead in the final 24 seconds of a game. This ranks him first among all qualified players since the 1996-1997 NBA season. The next two players to trail him are both NBA champions and Hall of Famers, Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan.
Tatum's former teammate and a fellow Duke alum, Kyrie Irving, also ranks quite high on the list, coming in at the No. 5 spot, having converted on 36.5% of such shots.
Looking ahead,
Tatum and the Celtics will return to action Friday against the Chicago Bulls.
