Heading into the 2026-27 NBA season, former Duke Blue Devil Cameron Boozer has a great chance to win the Rookie of the Year Award due to his opportunity on a rebuilding Grizzlies roster. Boozer was recently voted by ESPN as most likely to take home the hardware, just ahead of Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson.
Following the vote, an Eastern Conference executive gave Boozer a strong endorsement for the award, saying, "Boozer is a winner, and he's won things his entire young life. Memphis isn't going to have a good year, but he's going to be the bright spot, and he's going to win the award."
If Boozer were to take home the award, he would be the sixth former Blue Devil in NBA history to do so, joining Elton Brand, Grant Hill, Kyrie Irving, Paolo Banchero
and last year's winner, Cooper Flagg. Additionally, Boozer would help Duke break a tie with UNC, producing the most Rookie of the Year Award winners in NBA history.
