Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has continually done a tremendous job growing the Duke Brotherhood. Scheyer has been able to bridge the gap of many different eras of Blue Devils players, joining as a special assistant to Coach K in April of 2013.
Later in that year, Scheyer was able to work with former No. 2 overall selection Jabari Parker. Parker, an eight-year NBA veteran and a current EuroLeague basketball player, came to visit Scheyer and Duke earlier this week.
While there, Parker offered his wisdom with a motivating message to current Blue Devils, offering his phone number to all players as a way to help mentor them beyond his in-person appearance.
Although two ACL tears derailed his NBA career, Parker was a phenomenal freshman at Duke, averaging
19.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals in 30.7 minutes per game to lead the Blue Devils to a 26-9 record.
