As college basketball fans await the 2026-27 season, Duke supporters are eager to see the Blue Devils earn another NCAA championship. Their championship drought dates back to the 2015 season, as head coach Jon Scheyer has yet to cement his legacy as Duke's head coach, like he did as a player.
With preseason basketball less than a month away, ESPN recently predicted the ceiling and floor of every ACC basketball team.
As expected, Duke had the loftiest ceiling and the highest floor in the conference. According to ESPN writer Myron Medcalf, Duke's ceiling is a 37-win campaign, a first-place finish in the ACC and an NCAA championship.
Their floor is as low as a 29-win season, a second-place finish in the ACC and an appearance in the Sweet 16.
How do
these compare to Duke's performance a season ago? During the 2025-26 campaign, Scheyer's squad finished 35-3, won the ACC championship and went as far as the Elite 8.
