Duke basketball will have their first offseason scrimmage Thursday, at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Belmont. While the game will give Duke's coaching staff a chance to evaluate game plans ahead of the 2026-27 season, the contest will also mark a reunion for fans.
As announced by the university, former NCAA champion and four-year Blue Devils forward Ryan Kelly will join the broadcast team as a commentator for the matchup. Throughout his time in Durham, Kelly played 126 games for Duke, averaging 7.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 46% from the field and 37.9% from 3-point range.
Kelly recently retired from professional basketball, having played four NBA seasons between the Atlanta Hawks and the Los Angeles
Lakers from 2013 to 2017. Following his days in the NBA, the New York native had a successful career overseas, playing his final season last year with the Fukui Blowinds (Japan).
