Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer recently made a podcast appearance and discussed the rumors that linked him to the Dallas Mavericks head coaching job.
While the Blue Devils have great representation on the Mavericks squad, including Dereck Lively II, Kyrie Irving and a player Scheyer recently coached, Cooper Flagg, the Duke alum decided to stick with college athletics for the time being.
“I wouldn’t be able to live with myself, not seeing this thing through,” said Scheyer about potentially leaving the university.
An NCAA champion as a senior with Duke, Scheyer clearly has unfinished business on the coaching side, having yet to appear in an NCAA title game. Ultimately, Dallas hired former Michigan head coach Dusty May, who captured an elusive
title with the Wolverines last season, in his eighth year as an NCAA head coach.
