Weeks away from the 2026-27 college basketball campaign, analysts and pundits have begun ranking players, teams and coaches in anticipation of the new season. College basketball analyst Andy Katz was the most recent to do so, ranking the best sophomores in the nation.
Included on Katz' list was one current Duke player, last year's ACC All-Defensive selection Dame Sarr. Sarr came in at No. 5 overall and placed second among all sophomores from the ACC. Last year, the Italian guard averaged 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, one steal and 0.4 blocks. That said, Sarr has high aspirations for his sophomore season, as he hopes to bring a NCAA title back to Durham.
If Duke's first scrimmage is any indication of Sarr's role this upcoming season, he
appears to be involved heavily in Jon Scheyer's plans. Against Belmont, Sarr played in the starting lineup and finished with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Only Braylon Mullins (UConn), David Mirkovic (Illinois), Trey Meckenney (Michigan) and Thijs De Ridder (Virginia) were ranked ahead of Sarr.
