Following a heartbreaking 28-25 upset loss at Georgia Tech on Saturday, Duke fell out of the top 25in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after being ranked No. 23 this past week.
The Blue Devils had a chance to send the game to overtime, but Gavin Strange's 33-yard field-goal attempt sailed wide left, giving the Yellow Jackets their first win against an FBS program this season.
Duke entered the Coaches Poll after a 4-0 start, jumping to No. 21 two weeks ago before falling to No. 23 after the bye week. It was the first time the Blue Devils had been ranked in the poll since the 2023 season.
Despite being held to 99 rushing yards, Nate Sheppard rushed for two touchdowns and caught seven passes for 91 yards. Walker Eget finished 26-of-41 for 259 yards and a touchdown.
The Blue Devils return to Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday to host archrival North Carolina.
