NBA preseason games continued Thursday, meaning more Duke alumni were in action. Thus far, the preseason has been fruitful for a handful of former Blue Devils, including RJ Barrett and recent No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer. Here is an update from Duke's NBA alumni who took part in Thursday's games.
Beginning with the Cavaliers and Celtics, Duke supporters were disappointed to find out that star forward Jayson Tatum was held out due to rest. A former second-round pick, Tyrese Proctor did suit up for Cleveland, playing 21 minutes and tallying five points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in the Cavaliers' 124-113 defeat.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson took part in his second game of the preseason, scoring eight points to go
along with one rebound, one assist and one steal in 16 minutes against the Heat. Miami would go on to win 128-118.
The teams of Jalen Johnson (Hawks), Trevor Keels (Wizards) and recent second-rounder Maliq Brown (Spurs) all took the court Thursday, but the former Duke trio did not play. Of the three, Brown is the only player currently injured, dealing with back tightness, which is not expected to be serious.
Looking ahead to Friday's games, Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks will face the Houston Rockets, while Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies will take on his collegiate rival, Caleb Wilson and the Chicago Bulls.
