According to college sports insider Joe Tipton, 5-star 2027 prospect AJ Williams is down to 10 schools, including Duke. Williams, a 6'7" small forward prospect from Georgia, was offered a scholarship back in June but reclassified from the class of 2028 to the class of 2027 in August.
Williams was the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2028 but is now ranked No. 5 in the class of 2027, ahead of two other potential Duke prospects, Adan Diggs and Lewis Uvwo, who have both received offers from the university. Beckham Black, the No. 1 prospect in the class, also has a standing offer from Duke.
If Williams were to join the Blue Devils, he'd reunite with his recent Team USA teammate Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje. While Boumtje-Boumtje took home MVP honors
for Team USA during the U17 FIBA World Cup, Williams showcased his skills, averaging 14 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in seven games while shooting 42.4% from beyond the arc.
The other nine schools still in the running for Williams are Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Illinois, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, UNC and Mississippi State.
