In the offseason, the Texas Longhorns remade their roster through the transfer portal. One of their biggest additions was wide receiver Cam Coleman, who was coming off a career year with Auburn. While Coleman has only briefly worked with the Longhorns coaching staff, he is already drawing high praise from head coach Steve Sarkisian.
During practice on August 8th, Coleman made a one-handed grab that left those watching in awe. When Sarkisian was asked about the play he compared Coleman to former NFL star Julio Jones.
"Julio was similar that way, that had that ability to highpoint those balls the way he does⦠and still be a vertical threat," Sarkisian said.
The catch radius is insane

As a sophomore, Coleman
showed that he can be the main piece of an offense. He set career highs in receptions with 56 and receiving yards with 708. He also found the end zone five times while averaging 12.6 yards per catch. The Alabama native finished his time as a Tiger with 1,306 receiving yards.
While Coleman is learning a new system, he is now part of a very talented wide receiver room that should help bring out the best in his game. That group includes Ryan Wingo, Emmet Mosley V, and Ryan Niblett. In the past, they have excelled at making life difficult for defensive coordinators.

If the Longhorns' newest piece can build on his success from last season, then Texas will have one of the most dynamic weapons in the nation at its disposal. That should not be hard, given that Coleman will now be catching passes from Arch Manning. The duo has the potential to be one of the best in the SEC as Texas chases a national title.
With the start of the regular season just a few weeks away, excitement is building for what Coleman will accomplish in the burnt orange.
