The Texas Longhorns took care of business in Week 1 and dominated an opponent they were supposed to dominate. After UT's 59-7 win on Saturday over Texas State, the Longhorns have jumped up to No. 3 in the newest US LBM Coaches Poll.
Texas jumped up a spot because voters punished the Oregon Ducks for a close call against Boise State. Oregon won the game 34-27, but the Ducks had to score a TD in the final minute to avoid the upset at home in Eugene. Oregon fell to No. 6.
This Saturday's opponent, the Ohio State Buckeyes, remains No. 1 in the latest ranking. The Georgia Bulldogs are just ahead of Texas at No. 2. Notre Dame and Indiana round out the top five.
After crushing Clemson, without using former NFL players, LSU leaped five spots to No. 8.
LSU's gain moved Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas Tech all down one spot.
The SEC lands a total of ten teams in the Top 25. Seven Big Ten teams are ranked. The Big 12 has four ranked and the ACC has three.
