Ohio State game day in Austin is finally here. 378 days after then No. 1 Texas was beaten 14-7 in Columbus by the Buckeyes, the Longhorns hope to get revenge on 2026 No. 1 Ohio State in the Austin heat.
Today's game is the finale of the two game home-and-home series with the Ohio State Buckeyes. With no more scheduled non-conference games against each other in the future, this could be the final time the two blue blood titans will meet, unless they play in the College Football Playoff in the future.
It'll be the third straight season these historic programs have met, with the Buckeyes getting the better of the Longhorns in the CFP semifinal Cotton Bowl in 2024, and then again at the Horseshoe last season. Even though Ohio State is the No. 1 team
in the nation, the Longhorns are actually favored by one and a half points.
The add to the fun, ESPN College GameDay is in Austin to handle the pregame. The longtime Saturday morning show set up near the LBJ Library. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT. We'll have updates all day and provide live in-game updates during the epic matchup.

Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Buckeyes weather forecast
07:05 AM ET, September 12 2026, Trey LuerssenIt is going to be hot in Austin today. How hot? The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 102-degrees and humid. While the heat will most certainly affect the Longhorns, it could be really harsh on Ohio State.
The Longhorns have spent the entire spring and fall camps outside. Texas' new Frank & Wofford Denius Indoor Football Facility will help the Longhorns stay cooler in the days, weeks, months and years to come. But it wasn't ready until the day before the season began, meaning the Horns have had all practices this year in the heat.
Ohio State has had a lot of practices outside, but the Buckeyes have also spent a lot of preparation time inside at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Even outdoors, the weather in Columbus has been mild this summer. The average high in Columbus this August has been 84-degrees.
The good news for the Buckeyes is the game is at night. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. That will help Ohio State a little. But the peak temperature for the day will hit the Buckeyes during warmups and it will not start to really cool down until sundown. Even without direct sunlight, the weather will still feel oppressive.
Kick off temp of 97 with a feels like around 101 here in Austin, TX for Texas-Ohio State matchup.

Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Buckeyes predictions, picks, odds
07:04 AM ET, September 12 2026, Trey LuerssenI do think Texas wins. Some of it is because I think Arch is better. Some of it is because Muschamp is back. Ultimately, I think the weather in Austin is going to play a big part in this game.
Texas opened it's new state-of-the-art football practice facility the last Friday. UT had no indoor facility for the past nine months and practiced the entire spring and fall in the Texas heat. August is always the hottest month in the Lone Star State, but this August has been hotter than most. Even though the game is at night, I think the Buckeyes are going to struggle with the heat late in the game. It wears on you. Especially if you're not used to it.
