After a hard fought 20-17 win over the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, the Texas Longhorns remain No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Texas received 45 first place votes, easily outdistancing No. 2 Georgia's 17 first place votes.
The Longhorns moved into the No. 1 spot three weeks ago after beating then No. 1 Ohio State. Notre Dame, Miami and Indiana join the Horns and Bulldogs in the top five. Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, BYU and Texas Tech round out the top ten.
Florida and UCLA were the biggest movers this week. The Gators jumped 14 spots to No. 8 after crushing Ole Miss 51-28 in the Swamp. The Bruins, who also gained 14 places, join the Top 25 at No. 23. The Bruins whipped Maryland, 54-3. Mississippi State also made a big jump,
climbing eleven spots to No. 16 after edging Missouri, 31-24.
After crushing losses, both Texas A&M and Oklahoma have dropped out of the poll after starting the season in the top ten. The Aggies were dominated by No. 11 LSU in Baton Rouge Saturday night, 35-6. OU was manhandled by No. 2 Georgia between the hedges, 41-13.
With the Aggies and Sooners out of the Top 25, the SEC lands nine teams in the poll, including the top two teams. The Big Ten has seven ranked teams. Four Big 12 and three ACC schools are also ranked.
