The game time for Ole Miss at Texas on Oct. 24 has been locked in. The Rebels visit to Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on ABC. That makes the game the prime time showcase game for the SEC.
The last time Texas played Ole Miss was way back in 2013, when the Rebels traveled to Austin and dominated Texas 44-23. That was Mack Brown's final year as head coach at Texas. The Longhorns finished 8-4 that season. After opening the season with a win over New Mexico, the Horns were blown out in back-to-back non-conference games by BYU and the Rebels.
Ole Miss and Texas have had similar seasons. The Rebels are 4-1 and have looked great at times, including a blow out win over LSU and former coach Lane Kiffin.
But Mississippi were crushed 52-28 at the Swamp by Florida in Week 4. The game vaulted the Gators into the Top 25 and dropped the Rebels from No. 4 in the nation to their current ranking at No. 9.
Mississippi is led by Heisman Candidate quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who has already passed for 1,425 yards and 11 touchdowns. By comparison, Texas QB Arch Manning has 1,122 and 10 TDs.
Ole Miss will host red-hot Missouri this weekend, while UT hosts Florida.
