One unique aspect of the Red River Shootout is the neutral site. The Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas' Fair Park is the home of Texas-Oklahoma. The teams alternate as the home team and thus alternate between jerseys at the State Fair of Texas.
This year, the Oklahoma Sooners are the home team. That means OU will wear its crimson uniforms on Saturday in the Cotton Bowl. Texas will wear its Icy White road jerseys. The teams switch every other year.
Texas and Oklahoma have met 121 times in history. The Longhorns lead the series 65–51–5. The game used to be an annual non-conference game when UT was in the Southwest Conference and Oklahoma in the Big Eight. The teams became conference members together when the Horns and Sooners joined the Big 12 in 1994.
They joined the SEC together in 2024.
The rivalry continues 🤘

UT's all-white uniforms were made the standard road jersey under legendary coach Darrell Royal. From the 1960s onward, the solid white road uniform became synonymous with a "business trip" and hostile away games. Before the 60s, white uniforms were deem too hard to launder properly.
There have only been a few instances Texas has worn all white at home or as the designated home team. In 2020, UT wore throw-back white jerseys at home against Baylor. For the 2024 SEC championship game, Texas chose to wear white as the home team.
Last year, Texas wore its traditional Burnt Orange jerseys in its 23-6 win over OU.
