The king is dead. Long live the king. That old English saying certainly applies to the Texas Longhorns after an epic comeback win over Ohio State. Now the Horns are the new king, replacing the Buckeyes as the No. 1 team in the nation in the newest US LBM Coaches Poll.
The Longhorns jumped up two places from No. 3 to the top spot in the ranking. Ohio State, who blew a 20 point lead to Texas on the road in Austin, fell five spots and are now ranked No. 6. The Longhorns leapfrogged Georgia, who beat Western Kentucky 70-20, into the top spot.
Notre Dame, Indiana and Miami round out the top five. Texas received 42 first place votes, outdistancing the Bulldogs' 15 first place votes by a wide margin. The Hoosiers also got 10 first place votes.

Oregon took the biggest fall this week after getting upset by Oklahoma State. The Ducks plummeted 12 spots to No. 18. Oregon started the season No. 2 in the nation behind the Buckeyes. The Sooners also tumbled 11 spots to No. 21 after a poor offensive showing in a 17-10 loss to Michigan.
The SEC lands nine teams in the Top 25, including the top two. The Big Ten has eight ranked in the poll. There are four Big 12 ranked in the poll and three from the ACC.
