The first official SEC injury report is out and Hollywood Smothers is no where to be found. That's great news for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian as he prepares the Longhorns for the Red River Shootout against rival Oklahoma.
Smothers was listed as questionable two weeks ago for Texas' trip to Knoxville to face Tennessee. The NC State transfer dressed, but was not used in the game. Sarkisian said was glad he didn't have to go to the Longhorns leading rusher and let him rest through the bye week for OU.
βHe was an emergency for us Saturday," Sark said after the 20-17 win over the Vols. "I felt like he probably could have gone, but what Raleek [Brown] had done in practice and Derek [Cooper] getting himself back, if I could have gotten out of that game
with him not re-injuring himself, I think it would behoove us for the remainder of the season, and so we were able to do that. I think heβll be fine in a couple weeks when we play OU."

Adding Smothers back into the running back mix will be a big boost for a Texas offense that has yet to fire on all calendars this season. OU's defense will be one of the best UT faces this year.
Defensive end Justus Terry and wide receiver Kaliq Lockett are both listed as doubtful for the OU game. Offensive lineman Jordan Coleman is out for Red River. Tight end Nick Townsend is probable.
The Sooners injury list is lengthy with a total of 13 players listed.
