Next weekend is going to be a big party weekend on and off campus at the University of Texas. The first home football game of the year is always a reason to celebrate. Texas is one of the best "party schools" in the nation. But where does UT-Austin rank nationally? A new list tries to answer that question.
The Big Lead has compiled a list of the Top 25 best party schools in the United States. Texas has a lot going for it as far as party scenes go. It is a big city with plenty of bars and restaurants, areas like Sixth Street and A LOT of students. But it is also, academically, one of the best in the country as well.
Texas is also now in a conference that is known for partying. The SEC lands five schools in the Top 25. The Big Ten leads the nation
with eight.
So where do the Forty Acres rank? The Big Lead slots Texas in at No. 19. Just ahead of LSU.
Austin gives Texas a major advantage when it comes to nightlife. The Longhorns also bring one of college football’s biggest brands into the mix.
"Students can move from tailgates to downtown bars, live music, and restaurants. Texas’ move into the SEC has also added another layer to its football culture." - Arnab Mondal of The Big Lead
The "Live Music Capital of the World" is by far the biggest city in the SEC and the home of South-by-Southwest.
Florida State and Tulane top the list. USC and Wisconsin are third and fourth respectively. Alabama holds the crown as the biggest party school in the SEC, coming in at No. 5. Georgia ranks No. 7 and Ole Miss No. 10.
