On Saturday afternoon, Cam Coleman finally made his highly anticipated Longhorns debut. The former Auburn star joined Texas through the transfer portal in the offseason and is expected to be a key piece of the offense. Against Texas State, the Alabama native and his new quarterback Arch Manning were a lethal duo from the first snap of the game.
In his first game in the burnt orange, Coleman hauled in three passes for 70 yards. He also led the team in receiving touchdowns with two while averaging a team-high 23.3 yards per catch. While it was only Coleman's first game in a new system, he made an immediate impact and finished second on the team in receptions.

Against Texas State, Coleman showed why he was one of the top players available before committing to the Longhorns. In his two seasons as a Tiger, the talented junior recorded 93 receptions and 1,300 receiving yards. He also added 13 touchdowns to his resume and showed that he could hold his own against some of the top teams in the country.
Following the Longhorns' win, Manning showed his appreciation for Coleman. When talking with the media, the Longhorns' signal caller said, "It's nice having Cam Coleman on your team." That feeling should continue to improve as the season goes on and the competition gets more challenging.

Now the focus for Coleman and Texas will be to continue building on their impressive season-opening win next week when they take on Ohio State. The Buckeyes are ranked as the top team in the country and beat Ball State 56-3 in their season opener. To pull off an upset in week two, the Longhorns will need to be at their best, and the offense will need to put points on the board in bunches.
