The Longhorns ended their losing streak against the Ole Miss Rebels, holding on or a 34-27 win. Now, Texas is moving up in the newest AP Top 25 ranking. The Longhorns leaped eight spots this week and are all the way up to No. 11. Texas also ranks No. 11 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
The win over Mississippi was a quality win over a Top 10 opponent. The AP voters rewarded the Horns for a good win over a potential Heisman candidate in Rebels QB Trinidad Chambliss.
Miami remains the No. 1 team in the nation. Ohio State moves up into the No. 2 slot after BYU lost to Central Florida. Georgia, Indiana and Notre Dame make up the rest of the top five.
BYU dropped six spots and hand the biggest drop this week. Ole Miss and Texas Tech each fell five spots after
losing this weekend.
Texas was the biggest riser in the new poll. The Horns were followed by Northwestern and SMU, who both rose four sports.
