The Chargers hosted veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster for a workout, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson on X.
The Bolts also worked out cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, wide receivers Luke Grimm (signed), Ronnie Bell, Chris Hilton Jr., and Tejhaun Palmer, and quarterbacks Jake Browning and Kyle Trask.
Smith-Schuster, a Southern California native who starred at USC, has extensive experience in the AFC West. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs in 2022 and spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons in Kansas City.
Smith-Schuster spent this past summer with the Giants but was released in August ahead of training camp. Last season, he appeared in all 17 games with Kansas City, recording 33 receptions for 345 yards and a touchdown. Over his nine-year
NFL career with the Steelers, Chiefs, and Patriots, he has accumulated 481 catches for 5,624 yards and 33 touchdowns.
The Chargers' motivation for exploring veteran wide receiver options comes after a wave of injuries has completely decimated their wide receiver room.
