After leaving out punter JK Scott on their initial 53-man roster on Sunday, the Chargers quickly added him back to the roster.
The team announced that they have signed Scott.

In a corresponding move, the Chargers placed linebacker Denzel Perryman on the injured reserve to start the season.
Perryman will miss at least the first four games of the season.
Scott has spent the last four seasons with the Chargers. There was a chance that the Chargers were going to bring him back, given that the initial decision to leave him off the roster meant they had no punter.
The 30-year-old did not have the best of outings during the preseason. His 2026 preseason was
highlighted by inconsistent punting and low-effort tackling during a punt return against the 49ers.
Scott received a ton of criticism, and while it was warranted, he'll have a shot to redeem himself with the regular season quickly approaching.
As for Perryman, he was one of five linebackers to make the initial 53-man roster. His spot on the roster was never in question, and he will soon enter his 12th season in the NFL.
The 33-year-old was held to only 10 games in 2025 due to a high-ankle sprain. Perryman suffered that injury in Week 1 and was placed on the injured reserve list.
The former Pro Bowler recorded 47 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three passes defended for the Chargers in 2025.
