The Chargers have signed veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the 53-man roster.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero shared the news via X.
Los Angeles signed Valdes-Scantling to the practice squad last week. The 31-year-old will enter his ninth season in the league. The signing came after the Chargers suffered a slew of injuries in Week 1.
We may see Valdes-Scantling on the field Sunday in their Week 3 contest against the Bills. Valdes-Scantling will join a wide receiver room that consists of Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Tre Harris, to name a few.
The offense has struggled mightily to start the 2026 season, and Valdes-Scantling will look to elevate it in some way, shape, or form. Through the first two games, the Chargers are averaging
200.5 yards per game and rank 21st in passing yards (185.0).
The Chargers are Valdes-Scantling's seventh team of his career. He's played for the Packers, Chiefs, Bills, Steelers, 49ers and the Saints. He won two Super Bowl titles with the Chiefs.
Last season, Valdes-Scantling played for the 49ers and Steelers. In 10 games, five with each, Valdes-Scantling recorded 14 receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
