The Chargers are 0-5 to start the season, with no turnaround in sight. It’s been a nightmare season for Los Angeles, and the only logical next step appears to be to become sellers at the upcoming trade deadline.
This year’s deadline is on November 10, and there’s a chance the Chargers sell off a ton of their top players to contenders looking to bolster their club.
It’s a real possibility the Chargers go that route, and if they do, CBS Sports' Carter Bahns named four players who could be on the trade block: Khalil Mack, Donte Jackson, Quentin Johnston, and David Njoku.
The Chargers are highly unlikely to make any sort of real turnaround this season, leaving them with no choice but to sell their players while they can.
Mack has appeared as a top trade
candidate, and that will only increase in the coming weeks.
"Mack is by far the most tradeable player on the roster as a 35-year-old playing extremely well on a one-year contract," Bahns wrote.
"That is the exact kind of rental player that defense-needy playoff contenders are in search of every single year."
Mack may be their best asset, despite his age. The others, like Jackson, Johnston, and Njoku, could be flipped for late-round picks.
It's still early to tell whether the Chargers will become sellers, but if they continue down this path, the question may shift from who they'll trade to how many players they'll part ways with.
