The Chargers have officially added wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, but they had to make room on the practice squad for him.
Los Angeles released cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad.

The Chargers signed Elam to the practice squad on Sept. 2. The former first-round pick spent training camp with the Chiefs.
Elam made four appearances with the Titans in 2025, where he recorded one pass deflection, two fumble recoveries and four tackles. The cornerback also made seven appearances with the Cowboys last season.
Valdes-Scantling is set to enter his ninth season in the league. The signing comes in response
to the slew of injuries the Chargers suffered in Week 1.
Ladd McConkey is listed as day-to-day with a rib injury. Derius Davis is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith landed on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
It's unclear if the Chargers will upgrade Valdes-Scantling for their Week 2 matchup against the Raiders. If McConkey is ruled out, Valdes-Scantling could suit up for Los Angeles on Sunday.
Valdes-Scantling spent this past offseason with the Cowboys. Last season, the two-time Super Bowl champion played for the 49ers and the Steelers. He collected 14 receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
