It is not how anyone in Los Angeles envisioned the first month of the season. But at 0-5, the reality has set in for the Chargers. While the team fights to turn the ship around week by week, fans are already looking ahead to the offseason. With a top draft pick increasingly likely, it is time to rebuild this roster to turn things around.
Continuing our 2027 NFL Draft scouting report series, we highlight Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore.

Elevator pitch
Moore is a complete cornerback prospect with rare size, length, and movement skills who routinely smothers opposing No. 1 wide receivers. With high-level route recognition, fluid athleticism, and natural ball skills, he projects as a long-term defensive piece who can execute
any defensive scheme or coverage responsibility at the next level.
Strengths
Elite size, a long wingspan, and remarkable physical reach let him lock out releases at the line of scrimmage, jam route timing, and contest catches... Rare hip fluidity, change of direction, and recovery burst, easily matching vertical routes downfield... Processes route concepts quickly, shows sharp eye discipline, and reads the quarterback's intentions in zone/off coverage to drive downhill and undercut throws... Natural wide-receiver-like hands and good tracking ability to win 50/50 balls... Willing competitor who doesn't shy away from contact... Scheme-diverse, having successfully logged snaps at boundary corner and slot/nickel... Held Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith to 1 catch on 2 targets for 7 yards in 2025.
Weaknesses
Can occasionally bite on double moves or leave too much cushion on comeback and hook routes... Highly physical and competitive nature can sometimes make him overly handsy late in a route stem... When attempting a tackle, will overshoot his angles at times and can come in too high, leading to a 15.4% missed tackle rate in 2025.

Fit likelihood
High: The Bolts currently lack a true No. 1 cornerback, and a shakeup is looming as veteran Donte Jackson is set to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason. Moore would give Chris O'Leary's defense a potential All-Pro option at the position that has been lacking premier talent for many years, projecting as a defensive centerpiece for the Bolts who can single-handedly eliminate opposing teams' top receiving threats with his premium mix of size, movement, instincts, and game-changing ball skills.

USC tried to put Leonard Moore in conflict by sending Makai Lemon in motion then throwing a quick hitter to him in traffic and Moore still fought through it all to make a tackle that limited a significant amount of yards after catch.
