The Chargers dropped their fifth consecutive game.
Los Angeles had a great chance to come away with its first win of the season, but they failed to capitalize on multiple plays, including a key 4th-and-1 that head coach Jim Harbaugh decided to go for with roughly 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Harbaugh says that was his one big regret of the contest.
“I was wrong," Harbaugh said.
Up 17-10 on that fourth-down play, the Chargers had Justin Herbert try to rush for a first down. However, the Broncos' defense stuffed the Chargers, and Denver took over at LA's 41-yard line.
Five plays later, Denver evened the game. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix connected with Courtland Sutton to tie it up, and Denver didn't look back.
From then on, it was tough sledding
for the Chargers. Their offense fumbled the ball, and on their next series, Herbert threw an interception.
Los Angeles had a chance to win with 1:08 left, but with no timeouts, it was a tough hill to climb.
The game ended on a Herbert sack as time expired.
The Chargers dropped to 0-5 for the first time since 2003.
