Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston could kick off the 2026 season with a bang.
Johnston was named one of three players to watch for their Week 1 matchup against the Cardinals, according to Omar Navarro of Chargers.com.
It's been a rough go for the 24-year-old as he gets set to enter his fourth season in the NFL. Johnston has been solid at best, but for the most part has been inconsistent on a week-to-week basis.
Nonetheless, that could change under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. We should see a jump in Johnston's production in McDaniel's new scheme.
In this new scheme, Johnston should have a ton more yards after the catch, leading to more explosive plays. Johnston has yet to have 800+ yards in a season; however, his best season came
in 2025.
The former TCU Horned Frog played in a career-low 14 games in 2025, but he recorded a career-high 735 receiving yards on four fewer catches than in 2024, with 51. He averaged 14.4 yards per reception and had a catching percentage of 60.7%.
"We got a supreme quarterback, supreme offensive coordinator and we got all the pieces that fit in and mesh well. I'm excited for us," Johnston said.
The former first-round pick is entering a crucial season. Johnston is heading into the final year of his rookie deal. If he plays well, he'll be in line for a solid payday, possibly in Los Angeles.
