The Chargers are poised to make a deep playoff run in 2026 after years of shortcomings.
All 32 NFL teams, including the Bolts, made their final roster cuts on Sunday, finalizing their 53-man rosters that will help guide them toward what they hope is a stellar season. With the rosters set prior to the start of the season, ESPN ranked each NFL team.
The last time ESPN released NFL rankings was post-draft, when the Chargers were ranked No. 14. A little less than two weeks before the start of the season, Los Angeles remains at No. 14.
As the 2026 season approaches, all eyes will be on the offense, specifically Justin Herbert and Mike McDaniel.
That quarterback-offensive coordinator duo is expected to do wonders, with many expecting Herbert to be among
the leaders in the MVP conversation. ESPN's Kris Rhim said McDaniel could unlock Herbert in a major way.
"With new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, barring any injury, Hebert should have one of the most productive seasons of his career and reach this mark late in the season," Rhim wrote.
The Chargers revamped the offense in a big way, and their defense isn't expected to skip a beat regardless of the change in coordinators.
Jim Harbaugh enters his third season in Los Angeles with plenty of regular-season success, but a playoff win remains the one thing missing from his resume.
