The Chargers will face another AFC West rival in their next matchup: the Kansas City Chiefs.
Los Angeles will travel to Arrowhead Stadium and avoid a 0-6 hole. However, history isn't on the Chargers' side, as head coach Andy Reid holds an impressive 22-5 record coming off a bye.
The Chiefs had their bye week in Week 5 and sit with a perfect 4-0 record heading into Week 6. That’s a winning percentage of .815.
Whe Reid was head coach of the Eagles, he held a 13-1 record after the bye week. With the Chiefs, it’s a slightly worse record, but still impressive nonetheless at 9-4. With Patrick Mahomes under center, Reid had a 6-2 record.
The Chargers, on the other hand, are 0-5 and have easily played like one of the worst teams in the league.
Los Angeles
was expected to be a juggernaut this season alongside the Chiefs. Instead, the Chargers are on the brink of tanking, while Kansas City is right back in the Super Bowl bubble mix.
The Chargers rank dead last in the NFL in offensive EPA (Expected Points Added) per play, due to poor spacing, dropped passes, and a lack of execution in Mike McDaniel's new system.
That's just the tip of the iceberg for the Chargers, and it won't get any easier with Week 6 on the horizon and over the next handful of weeks.
The Chargers could go 0-8 by the time the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaches. If so, they could become sellers and shoot for one of the top picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
