Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey is in line to have a big season in 2026, but just how big?
According to Mike Band of NFL.com, he believes McConkey will win the triple crown.
"Mike McDaniel’s ability to scheme downfield separation should help maximize McConkey’s speed and three-level versatility," Band wrote.
"An ascending Justin Herbert and a schedule that will push the Chargers into pass-heavy game scripts could give McConkey the volume needed to lead the NFL in receptions, yards and touchdowns, especially with Keenan Allen's 81 receptions from a season ago up for grabs."
The triple crown is when an NFL receiver leads in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receptions in a season.
The last wide receiver to do so was Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase
in 2024.
Two wideouts have done so this decade after a 15-season drought, and McConkey certainly has a great chance, especially considering the role he will play in Mike McDaniel's offense.
For starters, McConkey is the undisputed WR1 in the offense after a down year in 2025. The 24-year-old is expected to play a dynamic role that will require him to move around a lot in pre-snap motion and will have yards-after-the-catch opportunities as well.
With McDaniel wanting Justin Herbert to get rid of the ball quickly, McConkey will make for a great primary short-to-intermediate target.
If McConkey were to win the triple crown, he'd have to blow his current numbers out of the water. All of his career highs came in his rookie season, when he recorded 82 receptions for 1,1149 yards.
Now that he's the focal point in the passing game, McConkey could have his best season yet, which could ultimately result in the triple crown.
