The Chargers don’t have much going for them. They sit at 0-6 and have one of the worst offenses in the league.
The offense’s play, or lack thereof, has been a driving force behind what has been a nightmare season for the Bolts. While the offense has been tough to watch, the exact opposite can be said for the defense.
After a shaky start, the Chargers defense has found its rhythm after Week 2, doing what it can to keep the team in games. Chris O'Leary's unit will look to keep doing its part, and much of the turnaround comes down to rookie edge rusher Akheem Mesidor.
Mesidor was the Chargers' first-round selection in this year’s draft. He didn't come out of the gate hot, but leading up to the bye week, he’s been a bright spot for the team.
Many of
the Chargers' star defenders, including All-Pro safety Derwin James Jr., are in awe of his play.
"[Mesidor's] a beast, bro. He's going to be one of the top edges in this league. I can't wait," James said.
"I keep seeing him ascend. Very smart, don't say too many words. Just shows up to work, and I feel like he's a great reason why the defense is one of the top ones for sure."
Excited to see how EDGE Akheem Mesidor's continued growth as the Chargers return from their bye week.

Mesidor has 24 tackles this season (tied for fifth on the team) and 2.5 sacks (second on the team).
The 25-year-old's relentless effort and high motor have been a sight to see for what has been a stellar Chargers defense.
"The first couple games you feel like maybe he was feeling it out a little bit," said defensive coordinator Chris O' Leary.
"But this is a guy that's now playing the way we expect him to play, which is fast and violent, and then letting his tools and his traits show up."
