Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is confident in the guys in the locker room.
Herbert spoke to the media on Wednesday and rejected the notion that the team needs more local leadership.
“I think that happens regardless. I think our team is so close and so I don't think there's a lack of vocal leadership at all," Herbert said when asked about a potential increase in vocal leadership on the team amid their 0-2 start.
“So I'm going to stop you right there and say that it's very present. We've got great leadership on this team. I trust those guys in that locker room."
The Chargers are off to a rough start to the 2026 season. They dropped their first two home games against the Cardinals and the Raiders.
Los Angeles was a heavy home favorite in both
contests, and many predicted they'd take care of business. However, that wasn't the case.
The Chargers have started the season on the wrong foot and face a gauntlet of a schedule ahead.
Although that is the case, Herbert and the team are not worried or panicking of what's to come next. Instead, they are focused on the task at hand.
“And so I don't think anyone is panicked or worried because that's not going to be the sentiment. It's moving on to the next play and understand that we're close, we've made mistakes, how do we fix it?“
Herbert's play through the first two games has been subpar. He's on pace for his worst season yet, completing only 59.3% of his passes, throwing two touchdowns, throwing three interceptions, and logging 401 total yards.
The Chargers and Herbert are off to a far-from-ideal start, but their season is far from over.
