The Chargers are 0-1 to start the season after an embarrassing loss to the Cardinals.
Los Angeles was run out of its own building on Sunday, losing 26-14. The Bolts were flat in all three phases and appeared uninterested for the most part.
The Cardinals took full advantage and now look like a team far from the pushover many expected them to be in 2026, at least after one week.
The loss was bad through and through, but just how bad was it? ESPN Insight provided numbers from the game that show just how ugly this Chargers loss was.
According to ESPN Insight, ESPN Analytics gave the Cardinals just a 22% chance to beat the Chargers. On top of that, Los Angeles was the most popular Week 1 pick in ESPN Survivor pools, and they were closed as an -8.5 favorite,
according to DraftKings.
The oddsmakers loved the Chargers' chances in Week 1, and they did not live up to the billing.
After a major retooling, especially on offense, the Chargers laid an egg. The offense was stagnant for the most part, and the defense was torn apart in every whcih way.
It was rather alarming to see the Chargers get outclassed in every way, especially to a team that was among the worst in the league in 2025.
The Chargers' supposedly "easy" start has already gone sideways. After dropping their opener and with the Raiders up next, Los Angeles is staring down the toughest part of its schedule with little room for error.
