The Chargers have lost their seventh consecutive game in the 2026 season. This time, the Rams beat them 24-9.
The Bolts' performance was once again abysmal, as the offense couldn’t get anything going all day.
With the Chargers failing to score a touchdown yet again, questions arose regarding offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s job security. After the loss, Jim Harbaugh once again confirmed that McDaniel will continue to call the plays.
“Yes,” Harbaugh said when asked if McDaniel would continue to call the offensive plays.
Harbaugh was asked why they will keep leaning on the 43-year-old offensive coordinator.
"Our motivation is dedication to getting it changed, fixed,” Harbaugh said.
"I believe in our guys, our players, our coaches."
After the Chargers'
Week 6 loss to the Chiefs, speculation grew that the team might fire McDaniel. Instead, Los Angeles stood pat during the bye week and continued to put its trust in him.
It was worth a shot, considering the Chargers had ample time to get some rhythm going; however, Sunday's contest proved nothing had changed.
The Chargers had more total plays and yards than the Rams; however, they lost the turnover battle, 2-1. The Bolts also controlled the clock, having the ball for 32 minutes compared to the Rams' 27.
The offense showed signs of life, with Justin Herbert throwing for 257 yards and being sacked only twice. However, the Rams capitalized on opportunities the Chargers just couldn't.
The Rams turned it up a notch late in the second quarter and put together a methodical drive to start the second half. The Chargers' defense simply couldn't keep up.
