The Chargers dropped to 0-4 on Sunday, losing to the Seahawks, 30-23.
Los Angeles' season has been a disaster; they haven't won a game and face a daunting schedule. To make matters worse, the offense has been well below par to start the season, including the play of running back Omarion Hampton.
Coming into the season, Hampton was expected to be the Chargers' undisputed RB1. However, these numbers tell us otherwise
.Hampton ranks third among Chargers running backs in yards per carry, total EPA, rush EPA, and target share through four weeks.
Mind you, the Bolts have three running backs on the active depth chart.
It's been a struggle for Hampton to start the season, and Sunday's Week 4 contest was no exception.
Hampton only had nine carries for 45
yards. He found the end zone and had 11 touches (2 receptions), but the volume was clearly lacking.
Part of it has to do with the play of Keaton Mitchell. Mitchell had more carries than Hampton (10), rushing for 39 yards, with his longest run going for 20. The Chargers' RB2 also had five receptions for 24 yards.
Third-string Kimani Vidal had five carries for 25 yards. Vidal also had two receptions for 11 yards.
Before the season started, Mike McDaniel warned fantasy owners that he planned to use a "hot hand" approach and a three-headed running back committee involving Hampton, Mitchell, and Vidal.
After Week 4, that's been the case and then some.
