The Chargers worked out four players, including long snapper Spencer Triplett, before ultimately signing him to the practice squad.

ESPN's Kris Rhim shared the news via X.

The signing of Triplett comes after the Chargers elevated Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the practice squad to the active roster. The move followed the decision to place tight end David Njoku on injured reserve.

Njoku will miss at least the next four weeks. He will be eligible to return when the Chargers take on the Rams in Week 8.

Triplett now replaces Valdes-Scantling on the practice squad.

The rookie long snapper joins the Chargers after a six-year career at North Carolina. In 2023, Triplett was part of a Tar Heels operation that converted 22 of 24 field-goal attempts and all

51 extra-point attempts.

Triplett entered the 2025 season on the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, which recognizes the best long snapper in college football each year.
