Not much is going right for the Chargers to start the 2026 season.
The Chargers are off to their worst start since 2003, with little sign of a turnaround. It's been a disappointing start for Los Angeles, but some players have still risen to the occasion.
Cornerback Tarheeb Still is one of them. Still is off to a tremendous start to the season, so much so that ESPN's Seth Walder made a bold prediction for him, with one minor caveat.
"Cornerback Tarheeb Still will deserve to make the Pro Bowl but won't make the original team. Instead, he'll earn a spot on ESPN's snubs list. Still is off to a nice start to the season, allowing 0.8 yards per coverage snap and a minus-8% completion percentage over expected, per NFL Next Gen Stats. He won't get the recognition
because he's not a huge name and plays for the disappointing Chargers, but I think his strong season will continue."
Still quietly putting together an impressive third-year campaign for the Bolts. His Pro Football Focus numbers are too good to ignore, boasting a 74.0 overall defensive grade and a stellar 77.5 coverage grade, which ranks him 9th among 104 qualified NFL cornerbacks.
Through five games, Still has recorded eight tackles, three passes defended and one forced fumble.
We noted in early August that Still could be in for a breakout season, and a little over a quarter through the season, that appears to be the case.
Still is not only making a name for himself, but also doing his part in a Chargers defensive unit that has played exceptionally well as of late.
