The Chargers are set to take on the Rams this Sunday in their seventh game of the season, though Derwin James Jr. may be out.
James could be entering the injured reserve after suffering a setback in his return from hamstring injury.
The 30-year-old safety has been held to three games this season, and has not played in the entire month of October.
The Chargers can’t seem to catch a break. They’ve been hit with a slew of injuries on both sides of the ball, including some of their best players.
With James out, Elijah Molden, Tony Jefferson, and Genesis Smith have picked up the slack. While the Chargers remain the only winless team in the NFL, their defense has been a bright spot.
James would be the latest of their star players to hit the IR. If the Chargers
decide to go down that route, he will be eligible to return for their Week 12 game against the Patriots.
In the season, James has 21 tackles and one passes defended in what has been a tough season for the team.
Ealier in the season, James suffered a pinky injury; however, he played through it while wearing a cast.
At this point, it appears unlikely that James will be able to suit up on Sunday.
