Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh believes Justin Herbert will go down as the greatest quarterback of all time when all is said and done.
Harbaugh spoke to NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and made the bold prediction on his show, "The White House."
“Justin Herbert, when it’s all said and done, when his career comes to an end, I predict he will be known as the greatest, best ever to play the position of quarterback,” Harbaugh said of Herbert.
Herbert certainly has the talent and tools to be one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. The 28-year-old has a rare combination of exceptional size, arm talent and mobility. Some quarterbacks possess one or two of those traits, but it's rare when a quarterback has all three, and Herbert fits that bill.
The former
Oregon product stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 236 pounds, making him one of the biggest signal callers in the game.
While Herbert has the tools and attributes to be an all-time great, his resume and accolades have a long way to go. The Chargers quarterback is 0-3 in the playoffs and has only an Offensive Rookie of the Year award and two Pro Bowls under his belt.
Outside of that, it's been tough sledding for the former sixth overall pick in 2020. Herbert's individual tools have never been the problem; however, as he heads into the 2026 season, many believe he now has the right help with Mike McDaniel as the new offensive play caller.
McDaniel is expected to elevate Herbert and the offense, an area where Los Angeles has struggled, particularly in its last two playoff appearances.
If Herbert can take another step forward under McDaniel, Harbaugh could be onto something.
