Super Bowl-winning quarterback Phil Simms believes Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh should be on the hot seat.
Simms appeared on the Yahoo Sports Daily podcast and believes Harbaugh's seat is hotter than the Buccaneers' head coach Todd Bowles'.
"Jim Harbaugh out there in Los Angeles, I believe, is a big deal," Simms said.
"The fact that they thought last year they had a Super Bowl team, and this year I heard nothing but the positive stuff coming out of there. But wow, these two games - hard to believe they lost them. Fan bases are impatient, so I'll take Jim Harbaugh there."
No one could have predicted the Chargers would have started 0-2. Los Angeles failed to take care of business at home against the Cardinals and Raiders, two teams that combined
for a 6-28 record in 2025.
This was supposed to be the easiest part of their schedule, and now they're heading into the toughest part, way behind the eight ball.
Overall, Harbaugh has done great work for the Chargers, leading them to a 22-12 record in his first two seasons in Los Angeles.
The expectation was that Harbaugh would elevate this team, especially this season alongside offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Instead, it appears this whole team has regressed in every way, shape, and form.
Harbaugh is in the third year of his five-year, $80 million contract with the Chargers, which he signed in January 2024. That contract makes him one of the highest-paid coaches in the NFL, directly behind Andy Reid and Sean Payton.
Things would need to go haywire for the Chargers to make such a drastic move; however, their upcoming schedule suggests they may be heading in that direction.
Nonetheless, with 15 games remaining, time is on the Chargers' side.
