It has been tough sledding for Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
Herbert's 2026 season has been far from ideal, and it continued in Week 4 against the Seahawks. The 28-year-old threw two interceptions and was sacked four times, the last of which sealed the game for Seattle.
If that's not bad enough, Herbert matched an ugly franchise record set by Ryan Leaf in 2000.
"Herbert is the first Chargers quarterback with at least six picks and 10 sacks through the team's first four games of a season since Ryan Leaf in 2000," NFL.com writer Kevin Patra said.
Leaf is widely considered one of the biggest busts in NFL history. The Chargers selected him second overall in the 1998 NFL Draft, and he only played four seasons.
Herbert is now in the same company
as Leaf.
The Chargers quarterback has six interceptions and has been sacked 12 times through four weeks, both tied for the second-most in the NFL.
Herbert's six interceptions are the most in four games in his career, and the 12 sacks are tied for the most.
It was more of the same for Herbert against Seattle. He looked uncomfortable in the offense, and his play certainly did more harm than help for the Chargers.
The loss wasn't entirely on Herbert. The offensive line did him no favors as well, as Cole Strange and Jake Slaugther each allowed six quarterback pressures.
Under pressure, Herbert went 7-of-13 for 101 yards and an interception while being sacked four times.
At the end of the day, Herbert and the offense had a chance to win, but once again they came up short.
