In Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams are set to host the New York Giants. While that game is months away, one of the storylines revolving around the contest is the health of Malik Nabers.
Nabers, the Giants' star wide receiver, suffered a knee injury last season, and it was widely reported that his recovery wasn't occurring at the expected rate. That report put into question the idea that Nabers may have to miss the Rams' contest.
However, it appears that Nabers' health is back on track. His game status remains a mystery but he cleared a massive hurdle as he was not placed on the Giants' physically unable to perform list.
"New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is not expected to begin training camp on the physically unable
to perform list, a source told ESPN," wrote ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "It's a step in the right direction following a serious knee injury last year."
It was reported that Nabers has spent the summer at the Giants' facility, working to get back into playing shape.
"Working his way into practice as camp gets started one way or the another," stated Giants head coach John Harbaugh. "To what degree, we will find out. But there is a lot of optimism around [Nabers and Skattebo]."
The Giants are set to kick off their training camp with veterans reporting on Tuesday. That will be the first indication of whether Nabers will practice immediately. That was the original goal of both Nabers and the franchise following his knee surgery.
That game against the Giants will be the Rams’ home opener after playing in Australia in Week 1, and it will be the showcase for Monday Night Football.
