The Los Angeles Rams don't have a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL draft, but they currently have one in the second round. And with that pick, Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano writes that the Rams should look at Notre Dame edge rusher Boubacar Traore as a potential replacement for impending free agent Byron Young.
The Rams may let Byron Young walk in the offseason to pay other players on their roster. That would create a hole opposite Myles Garrett. Traore has the attention of NFL scouts due to his strength, versatility and enticing size at 6'5", 253 pounds.
Young could demand a sizable contract extension this offseason. If so many other impending deals for stars like Puka Nacua, Kobie Turner and Steve Avila, it might be tough for the Rams
to keep everyone together. That's where the draft comes in, and where Traore could slide in as a potential depth piece.
Traore has 18 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in seven games this season. He also has an interception returned 18 yards, a pass breakup, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery he returned 24 yards for a touchdown. Over 28 career games at Notre Dame, he has 67 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 14.0 sacks, five forced fumbles and two interceptions, one of which he returned 34 yards for a score.
