The Los Angeles Rams are aiming for their first winning streak of the 2026 season when they take on the winless Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. It's a matchup between the NFL's No. 1 offense in yards per game and the team with the fewest points scored in the league.
Here are six stats and facts to know for this weekend's tilt.
Rams haven't allowed a first-quarter touchdown all season
According to the Rams' media team, Los Angeles has not yet allowed a touchdown in the first quarter this season. It's the longest active streak in the NFL, as they've dominated first quarters all year on defense. Unfortunately, the offense has been getting off to slow starts, scoring just 3.9 points per game in the first quarter – 22nd in the NFL.
The Chargers are slightly worse at 3.8 first-quarter points
per game.
Chargers have fewest points, most turnovers in NFL
Just about everyone knows the Chargers' offense has been horrible this season, but the numbers really paint a picture of their struggles. They're last in points per game (15), 28th in yards per game, have committed the most turnovers (15) and have the worst average starting field position in the NFL.
As bad as their offense has been, though, the Chargers actually have a higher explosive play rate (6.8%) than the Rams (6.6%).

Justin Herbert has one TD pass to a WR this season
Herbert has been a mess this year under Mike McDaniel, throwing just five touchdown passes and eight interceptions, with an average of only 190.2 yards per game. Of his five touchdown passes, only one has gone to a wide receiver: Ladd McConkey. Two have gone to running backs, and two have gone to tight ends.
Rams lead the NFL in total yards
The points may not be there yet, but the Rams are moving the ball fairly consistently. They lead the NFL with 2,794 total yards, which is 1,071 more yards than the Chargers have this year; that ranks 31st. Despite a sub-200-yard game on Sunday, Stafford still leads all quarterbacks with 1,989 yards through the air on a league-best 187 completions.
Rams lead all-time series but have been outscored by Chargers
This will be the 14th meeting all-time between the Rams and Chargers. The Rams lead the series, 7-6, but the Chargers have outscored them, 344-335. The last time they met was in Week 17 of the 2022 season, a game the Chargers won, 31-10. That was a disastrous season for the Rams, going 5-12 with many of their starters on the shelf due to injury.
Chargers haven't covered a spread all year
It's Week 8 and the Chargers have yet to win a game or even cover a spread. They're 0-6 straight-up and 0-6 against the spread, failing to cover even as 6.5- and 7.5-point underdogs in three of their last four games. Most recently, they were shut down by the Chiefs, losing that game 22-6 before their Week 7 bye.
The Rams have had their struggles, but the Chargers are having trouble even keeping games close.
