As they trimmed their roster down to just 53 players Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams had to make the tough decision to put two key offensive linemen on injured reserve. They put Justin Dedich and Keagen Trost on IR to start the year, but that doesn’t mean their seasons are over.
Dedich suffered a hand injury at home in July and was only recently activated off the non-football injury list. Trost injured his hamstring in the first preseason game and has been out ever since.
Because they’re on injured reserve, they will be forced to miss the first four games of the season. The good news is that the NFL now allows teams to designate two players to return from IR if they are put on the injured list the same day as final roster cuts.
Therefore, it’s possible
the Rams will get Dedich and Trost back in Week 5.
In their place, Dylan McMahon and Bill Murray made the 53-man roster, giving the Rams nine total offensive linemen to work with.
